The Zainab: Magenta Silk with Gold Zardozi & Net Dupatta
The Zainab is unapologetic opulence—the kind of ensemble that announces your arrival before you enter the room. Inspired by the couture sensibilities of Haris Shakeel, this magenta silk masterpiece represents the pinnacle of Pakistani embroidery tradition, where every inch of fabric becomes a canvas for artistry.
The depth of the magenta—that perfect point between raspberry and fuchsia—has been a cornerstone of South Asian bridal wear for generations. Here, it is elevated with dense gold zardozi work that cascades from the keyhole neckline across the bodice, climbs the full-length sleeves, and pools into an extraordinarily ornate hemline. Scattered mukaish sequins catch light like scattered diamonds across the silk surface, while the matching net dupatta mirrors the kurta's embellishment with equal intensity. This is for the woman who refuses to fade into the background—the bride, the bride's sister, the guest who deserves to be remembered.
✨ Bridal-Level Embellishment ✨
This ensemble features over 200 hours of hand-embroidery, making it suitable for brides, sisters of the bride, or anyone who wants to make a statement at the most important celebrations.
This is Factory-Direct Luxury. We source the premium silk and commission the intricate hand-embroidery from the historic Mochi Gate ateliers in Lahore—the very same hands that craft for Pakistan's biggest designer labels including pieces for celebrity weddings. You receive the bridal-quality materials and the artisan lineage, but you bypass the designer markup.

The Zainab is constructed on a canvas of premium pure silk, chosen for its lustrous sheen and ability to hold heavy embroidery without compromising drape. The rich magenta hue is achieved through traditional dyeing techniques that ensure depth and consistency across the fabric.
The embroidery architecture is extraordinary in its density and precision. The neckline features a delicate keyhole detail framed by concentrated zardozi work—Kora, Dabka (antique gold wire), and Resham threads combine to create ornate floral medallions that radiate outward across the bodice. The full-length sleeves are a masterwork in themselves: heavy embroidered cuffs transition into scattered floral motifs that climb toward the shoulder, creating visual movement and interest from every angle.
The hemline is where tradition meets theatre—an extraordinarily dense border of zardozi work featuring intricate paisley and floral patterns that add weight and drama to the silhouette. Scattered mukaish (tiny metal sequins) cover the entire kurta surface, catching light with every movement.
The trousers are no afterthought: fully embroidered with the same floral motifs and finished with a wide gold zardozi border at the hem, they ensure the ensemble maintains its impact from every angle.
The net dupatta represents over 80 hours of hand-embellishment alone—scattered mukaish sequins create a starlit effect across the magenta net, while the wide gold zardozi border provides weight, structure, and visual cohesion with the kurta.

The "Smart Shopper" Insight
A pure silk formal with this level of all-over zardozi embroidery—particularly with embroidered trousers and the density of work shown here—typically retails at £3,000-£5,000 in designer boutiques and trunk shows. At AÏNN London, we operate on an unbranded, direct-to-consumer model. You are paying for bridal-level craftsmanship without the bridal-level markup—investing in the fabric and the 200+ hours of Karigar skill, not the rental costs of a flagship store, fashion week appearances, or celebrity endorsement fees.
Stylist's Guide
A Nikah Ceremony (as bride or VIP guest), Baraat, Engagement Party, Walima Reception, or any celebration where maximum impact is desired. The density of embroidery makes this particularly suited for evening events where lighting will catch the metallic work beautifully. This is also an exceptional choice for the bride's mother or sister who wants to complement without competing with the bride.
The rich magenta and gold palette calls for statement jewelry. A traditional Kundan or Polki choker set (as shown) with matching jhumkas creates a regal aesthetic. Pearl accents add softness if desired. For a modern approach, layer delicate gold chains or opt for uncut diamond (Polki) sets. Stacked gold bangles or statement kadas complete the look. The colour also pairs beautifully with emerald accents for those wanting to add a contrasting jewel tone.
The kurta is tailored for a structured, elegant fit—shaped at the shoulders and bust, with a slight A-line flare through the body that accommodates the heavy embroidery while maintaining movement. The full-length sleeves fit close to the arm to showcase the embroidery detail. The kurta falls to below the knee, paired with straight-cut trousers that are slightly tapered at the ankle to display the embroidered border. Best worn with heels to balance the visual weight of the embroidery.
Fresh flowers in the hair (as shown) are a beautiful traditional touch that complements this ensemble perfectly. A rose or jasmine gajra adds romance and photography impact without competing with the outfit's inherent drama.
